For the month of December, we report a membership growth of 7,000 members, with 25,000 games played.  This is a great indicator that people love to play chess on their iPhone.  We will continue improving this game and we need your support in the coming days.

We shutdown for an hour around 4PM MST for a upgrade.

The server upgrade included:

1. System notification of when your opponent leave the room.
2. Server stabilization fixes.
3. A 2-character ISO country code of the opponent. eg.  US  (united states) de (germany)  IT (italy)
4. Message notification of when the server cannot match you to another player.
5. Message of the day - a notification system for us to communicate while you’re in the game.
6. Broadcast - a way to broadcast announcement during game play.

Happy thanksgiving! Did everyone see the secret thanksgiving board today?

We’re excited to announce the release 3 to be available to the Appstore on Nov 17th.  This new version offers a new “Game Room” screen, which you can view available and on-going games. From here, you can go to the public chat room, or create your own game with 9 possible variants, color, and time control.  Not only that, you also watch/observe existing games.  

We started this chess game with vision that this game will be close to level of community on Internet Chess Club (ICC) with hundred of thousands players online.  We have already started working on the next release and we can’t wait to release it.   We can’t disclose the details just yet but it’s still a good idea to purchase now and get the FREE UPGRADE later.  We’ll end this post by saying. : We ARE not in the business of cranking out iPhone games,  We are in the business of building the largest online chess community, and make the “gaming experience” enjoyable.  (we actually have a “game quality assurance” role on this project)

This comparison is more an afterthought than anything.  But we were suprised that most (online) chess games available on the iPhone can not compete with us in terms of feature.  Caissa is an excellent offline game but has no online support, which is the same case with Gameloft’s chess game (not listed here).  The only direct competitor is Versus, which lacks features that we have available and with our price point,  it’s hard to resist our value proposition.

We’re excited about releasing this game.  This is truly the first chess game that has a realtime clock, and an-ingame chat.  The game will be definitely be fun to play.
